Re: Blogging Fatso!
Yeah, I can't remember who came up with it, either Frank Ford, or one of our resident geniuses. Either way, I loved it. Then again, I am easily entertained. Reminds me of a joke I saw:
You gotta wonder how dumb a dog can be....I mean they are so easily entertained! I just watched a dog chase its tail for 10 minutes the other day. Then again, I spent 10 minutes watching a dog chase its tail. Hmmm.

Glued the fb to the neck. To make a radiused clamping caul I used a radiused sanding block (for fingerboard) to sand a convex radius on a piece of mdf, then I put sandpaper on the radiused side of that and sanded a concave radius into another piece of mdf to make the caul with the same radius as the fb, and if I have to type the word radius one more time I'll kill myself!

I forget what you are going to use to finish the fatso. You must be close to being ready to geting some finish on the guitar.

I don't think you forgot John because I don't think I ever said what I am going to use for the finish. Rattle cans nitro. All I lack is masking the bridge area, fb extention area and fb. I'm kind of lagging on it because I'm trying to stay ahead with my practice piece (cocobolo jewelry box), just finished pore filling it and should start finishing schedule today. Oh yeah, I also need to contour the bottom of the bridge, should get to that and the masking today also.

Re: Blogging Fatso!
i will be honest , I have done both and do it the same way Martin does . I don't radius the bridge I do them flat . I never had a problem with either method .

Re: Blogging Fatso!
In Rick's shop I used a convex radius board. It was still a pain but I did end up with a bridge that was properly radiused to the top. My guess is that if one were not careful sanding using the guitar as the radius guide the pressure form the sanding would flatten the radius on the guitar while sanding. I don’t have a convex radius board at home, but it would sure be handy.

Once you glue up the this area , you should have a stable structure . My plate is notched into the X braces , the top and bridge all set uniformly. Another point is that I do rout for my bridge also so in essence I am using parallels so I am contouring the top to the bridge .
I guess I am doing it backwards. The point is that the joint is sound and dry fits well .

Here's the neck all glued up, profiled, and finish sanded. Next I will locate and mask the bridge area and then pore fill.

Do you have a video of routing the top for the bridge? I would be interested to see that.
