Another thing -- Gibson at one time used the Solvent/Seedlac type varnish on their top of the line mandolins, my understandings is that it was discontinued because the finish was too fragile.

Seedlac still has wax in it, right? I have never used shellac, but I always wondered why there is such a big stink made over de-waxed shellac and the kind with wax in it.
I watched a pretty cool video on the production of shellac in India. It is still done by hand in many villages. It was interesting stuff. Then I thanked my lucky stars I lived in the USA. Those shellac producing people live in squalor and I did not see one fast food place anywhere!!

Whada mean? There is a Mikey D's, KFC and Pizza Hut on just about every corner in India.
You'd be in fast food heaven.

Not in the towns where they harvest the shellac!! I am telling you, it was like all hills and trees and junk. How do those people breath the air in those environments? Give me some diesel exhaust any day!!
