Blemish in Sitka Spruce
One of the tenor ukuleles I am working on has a Sitka Spruce top. As I worked with it, the more I sanded it doing assembly, then bindings, etc., the more a dark spot has appeared. I assume it is something in the wood, maybe a pitch pocket under there, and I am resigned to living with it. It is not a high-grade top, and it is wood after all. But I wondered if anyone has any experience with using bleach or something on a spot like this? Bruce W.

I had something like that which resulted in my first "burst" finish.

Re: Blemish in Sitka Spruce
Here in Hawaii it is an easy fix. Simply calls for a surf sticker. However, elsewhere it can't be hidden except by a sunburst or a very adventuresome inlay, and it would have to be a dark burst to hide that blem.Good luck!-Bob
