Jumbo 12 String - Almost Done

Post by Bruce Dow »

When we build boats, we say that we never finish working on them... we just start using them.

I guess it will be the same for me with guitars...

I have a few outstanding things to do....

I need to move one or two of my tuning machines "outboard" a bit because there is some string interference.

I am waiting for my fret files to arrive in the mail so that I can finish dressing the frets and polishing the fretboard

I have a few areas where I need to polish and buff out some scratches.

I need to add the pick guard and end pin, etc.

But I couldn't wait to string her up and give her a try....

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and advice as I have fumbled and stumbled my way through this.

So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.

LOUD

It is a big box with a lot of strings to make noise.

I don't know if I have the means to post a clip.... I'll see what I can do...

(Actually to my untrained ear, it sounds pretty rich. My daughter the "folkie" loves it)

Bruce,
I meant to write sooner. That is a dandy! And I also like the Eye Candy.
I didn't use to like much abalone, but it is really growing on me.
Great job on this one.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Even though nobody has asked, I'll explain the headstock treatment anyway...

I stole the theme from a defunct Canadian beer maker that shares my name... "Wouldn't a Dow go good now?"

I thought you were going to say you were a homebrewer too. I did it for 10 years, then had kids. Time to do it again.
