Bent my first set of sides

I bent the sides for a J45 with Peruvian Walnut back & sides. I'm very pleased.

On looking at the picture of your iron, I think you might get slightly better performance from it if it were cleaner. Get the resin off of it with a green scrubby or steel wool.

A green Scotch Brite pad and some water cleaned it right up.

May I ask how you heat it? I have one a friend made from a piece of boat mast. It has a 300 watt lamp inside but in my limited experience I don't think it gets hot enough. I found it better when I also directed a heat gun at it but that gets a little crowded. I've found trying to figure out what sort of heater to use as an alternative quite confusing.

I bought it on eBay. It came from China and I assume it has a heater inside. It take some time to come up to temperature.

I use a 6x6" heat blanket on top of the pipe and then I wrapped a sheet of copper (it's what I had on hand) around the blanket/pipe. It works quite well.
