Re: binding 45 style
Seems most comments are how the purflings go together . Actually if the channel is cut correctly as you work the binding the purflings will follow. Normally I use duco cement and it actually seems to help the pieces flow into the channels. With tite bond I work a smaller area ( about 6 to 8 inches at a time ). The tite bond gets tacky pretty fast .
I use a paper towel and I do have a small bucket of warm water. I to try to keep the glue build up off my fingers. Once you do this you will see that it is easier than it looks, just get a good start.

It's funny, because I seem to have the opposite problem. Duco seems to dry much faster for me than the Titebond. But, I like Duco because it will stick to itself, after it's dry; titebond doesn't.

Re: binding 45 style
today I got the top and back pearled. If you notice , on the back when I get near the end I will try to work to a straight area then I can cut the pearl to fit snap it in 2 and let it wedge itself into the channel. This gives you a tight closing joint.
Also it is normal for small voids and pits , as this is a natural product. After I can this set I will come back and drop fill any void areas. Also I use something with a hard corner to help snap the pearl , the more you can snap it the better it will look.
Sides are the next stage and I will post those soon. I hope you are enjoying this and can see that it is doable. It can sure bling up a guitar.

I am most interested in the sides, going into the inside and outside curves baffles me.

Got the last of the body pearl in and did my first sanding. I will drop fill some areas of pearl. The koa and BRW work nicely. I am happy with the alignment of the neck heel and fret board extension. One tip I can pass on , is that when you do the side pearl , it isn't like the top and back so you have to break this so is lays to the proper plane. I do snap the pearl sideways then set it in the channel as I go. I will use thin CA here and medium to fill the cavities in the pearl.

Now the guitar is ready for finish. All pearl is set and filled. This will be a beauty .
