Anyone familiar with different types of bone nut?
The one on the right in the pic is definitely bone as i just took it from the pack it came in
The one in the middle is a lot brighter in colour but I assume its also bone but why so white compared to the other one ?
The one on the left has left me baffled--is it bone that is unbleached by any chance ?
I buy stuff online and then forget what I bought--old age for sure !!

Re: Bone Nut ?
Hello Rusty.
I can offer you my opinion of the nut blank in the middle position... It looks exactly like the bleached bone nut blank I bought for my last build from Stew Mac. Excellent to work with (although it smells like the dentist chair when being drilled for a cavity...) and the result was a beautiful nut! I hope this helps...
Sincerely,
Rich

Re: Bone Nut ?
The bone nut on the left looks like unbleached. That's what I usually use.
Some people claim that the bleaching process weakens the bone.

Re: Bone Nut ?
Thanks for that
I like the look of the unbleached one but will then have to make a matching saddle I guess.

Thanks for that. I know we can buy a finished nut anytime nowadays, but theres something nice about one thats done by hand even though it takes a certain amount of skill.
