BInding and purfling glue problem

Im a newbie making my first kit - a blues creek '37 D28.

My purfling cutter bearing slipped when I was routing the top, so I had to increase the width of the rebate and make up a combination of wood fibre black/white and herringbone purfling, with an outer Ivoroid plastic binding.
The best glue for plastic binding here in the UK is Ruderer L150, but does anyone know if it works OK to glue woodfibre and plastic into the rebates at the same time, to avoid a complicated Titebond for woodfibre and Ruderer for plastic mix?

that is similar to duco you should be fine.

Having tried some test pieces, the Ruderer is not sticking well to the wood fibre purfling and I do find it very messy to use, especially as the purfling and binding is made up of 4 pieces.

So I'm tempted to try the CA glue method, after first coating the spruce top and rebates with shellac. That was I can check everything is up tight and in place before glueing. What do you think?

can you find weldon over there or duco cement. CA will work but you only have one chance to do it right.
e sure you tape it in well .

Unfortunately Duco and Weldon are only available in the USA.

Duco is very closely related to plain old model airplane balsa cement. Hobby stores might have 'SigMent', a US product from Sig Manufacturing, or Uhu Hart from Germany.

Thanks guys, yes Uhu is available in the UK.

I just wasn't confident it would stick both plastic and wood fibre to wood and it's very fiddly fitting the extra black/white purfling at the same time as the herringbone. I coated the top and rebates with French Polish and used superglue, so I could see that everything was in place and tight before adding the glue.

Thankfully I seem to have got away with it!
