Hi guys
This looks like it is going to be a very helpful site!
I am thinking of a strwmac 000 kit but could do with knowing how much customs etc are going to sting me for it. Any uk builders here who have tried it?
Thanks

Re: import costs for uk buyers
Hi Steve
The import charges you will have will be VAT (20%) added for the total of your package for any goods over £15 in value and that includes the postage :( - a lot of countries have a higher limit e.g. Australia theirs is $1000
On top of this you will have a handling charge of £8 so it bumps up the price some what.
The only thing that bugs me is that they include the postage in the cost of the charges :(
You will receive a letter from Parcel force to say that they have your parcel and you will have to pay the charges you can do this online or at your local Parcel Force depot.

Thanks Dave - not as bad as I expected! Does the guy who runs this forum do a 12 fret slothead 000 kit do you know? He seems a really helpful guy.

I am having a custom guitar made in china for me , good company and the other two guitars i had were done to a high standard , What i like about dealing with them is you can barter on the price and i got them to cover the vat in the price, gotta pay the £8 handling fee but VAT is paid.
