The purflings did turn out nice, but now your pictures are too small! I liked the bigger ones!

I managed to get the truss rod slot routed, the tenon routed on the neck heel, threaded inserts installed and the the neck actually fits!!!! Yah. I'm using a routing jig by JSimpson guitars for the mortise and tenon and it does a pretty good job of it. I ran out of time last night, but at first look with a straight edge, my neck angle looks about right on, about 1/8" over the saddle area. Tonight I'll check that out and located the fretboard on center with locating pins.

Re: A new one started today...another Drednaught
Most of Saturday was spent at a wedding, but I got 3 hours in shop in the morning. I took some extra material off the side and heel areas of the neck, located the fretboard on center with the body with the neck attached, using locating pins through the fret slots, then glued in the truss rod and glued on the fretboard and profiled the headstock. This the first time to use one of these truss rods. They are a bit long, and the top of the nut is in line with the body of the rod so it wants to fit right under the top plate. I'm guessing it is designed to be mounted lower in the neck shaft with a cap over it so the nut sits a bit lower under the top and thus better access with the hex wrench. I didn't do this, I mounted it flush with the neck surface. It appears to be okay, and I can get to the nut through the sound hole okay.

That is the Martin style 2 way rod from LMI. Heavy too.
I will put markers on this fretboard, but not until I've leveled it now that it's attached to the neck shaft.

Re: A new one started today...another Drednaught
Last night I got the "S" inlay cut from some blonde colored macacuaba inlaid in the EIR headstock plate. I used my new (used but new to me) Stewmac dremel router base for the first time, and this works very well. I did the deed up on my drill press table so I could stand up to do it and it was the perfect height, and was not bad for my back. I focused an extra bright light on the work to help me see. That white line is still tough to stay inside of, and I went outside the line in about 3 places, but overall the fit was pretty good. I think it will be okay. Tonight I'll glue down the plate to the headstock.
