Curly maple binding with herringbone?

Post by Mitch »

My dred kit came with "ivoroid" binding. I realize this is the classic look, but I prefer the look of wood and want to use curly maple instead. From an aesthetic point of view, would this look ok with the herringbone purfling? My concern is that the curl and the herringbone might be too busy next to each other. Should I also swap to b/w/b purfling?

Also, any recommended suppliers for curly maple bindings?

Thanks,

Mitch

Here is that combination on a black walnut build.

Everyone loves the look.

I also agree to go for it. I used that exact combo with rosewood and it looks great.
