Fretboard Fitting Question. Pics Attached

To me the important thing will be how the bridge will line up on the x braces and the plate. The rest will need to follow that and work how it works.

Maybe you have a 25.4" scale neck and a Martin 25.34" scale fretboard (that Martin calls a 25.4" scale). I had this problem on my first kit from John. We ordered the neck from Hannalei Moon and somehow there was a misunderstanding about the scale length (due to Martin's loose terminology for scale length). I sanded the face of headstock till the flat area for the fretboard was shortened 0.060". It reduced the thickness of the headstock very little.

Did Stew-Mac supply the neck and fretboard? If so, they should send you the correct fretboard or the correct neck.

The nut line from the headstock angle to the fret board should be about the distance you are quoting not all nuts will set on the angle.
can you post a pic of the end of the fretboard with the 12th fret on the edge of the body we can see then if you have an issue

To clarify this is a stock stewmac 000 kit right out of the box with no substitute parts.

OK per John's request here is a close pic of the fretboard/nutline relationship with the 12th fret lined up with the body. Like I said, it falls about 3/16" short of the line. So then...

A. Do I leave it like this and re-work the nut and slot?

B. Move the fretboard up to the pencilled nut line thus having the 12th fret not quite line up with the body.

C. Throw the whole thing in the fireplace :)

You forgot option D, cut back the cheeks on the neck tenon so it slides that much farther into the body. That would be my choice. But i would still verify the bridge position on the plate before I did anything, even though it does not look like it would be a real problem from that pic.

It will be a pain to get the complex angle into the bottom of the nut so that the nut sits cleanly. It looks like you will 3/16ths on plane with the fret board and the rest on plane with the head stock.

I think I might think about Option D, depending on where the bridge plate is.

Just to make sure you have the correct fretboard, measure from the nut to the 12th fret and let us know that distance. Twice that length would be the scale length. Per chance you have the wrong fretboard, I'm confident StewMac would ship you another one quickly.

I measured the distance at 12.67 from the nut to the center of the 12th fret. This would then put me at a 25.3 scale length which is correct.

It seams like stew mac just started the headstock angle a little to far past where it should have started by 3/16".

Also, I cannot remove that amount from the cheeks and end of the tenon as the truss rod is installed and flush to the end. I am thinking that trying to re-shape the nut slot and nut to fit seams like a workable option. Thoughts?

Like Brian said, I would rework the tenon side of the neck.
If the Truss rod sticks out past the end so be it.
Just slot the neck block to accommodate it.
