humidity

Post by ruby@magpage.com »

I have built 2 guitars in the basement over the winter. The RH is about 40-45% down there, but it will get a bit higher in the next couple of months. I have read that a top should be dry when gluing on braces so that it will be less prone to cracking when it dries later.

Would I cause problems if I put my top in the oven at 120 degrees for a couple of hours, then did the gluing? It would be unpredictably dry, but that might be better than wetter.
