Rosie (Rosewood Martin D kit)

Thought I'd blog on my new project. This is my third kit guitar. First two were bought cheap from the internet and were probably mix and match parts. I had to buy a lot of extra parts myself.

This one is from Martin and has rosewood back and sides, hopefully things go much smoother.

With a neck angle of 1 1/2 degree , you need to adjust that geometry into the sides to control that 14th fret hump.

Hi John, Happy Thanksgiving.

can you expand on that? I've had 14th fret hump problems on my first two builds and would like to know how to avoid it here. should I have done something before gluing the neck block?

Did some more work this week. I don't have a go-bar deck (no-bar?), so gluing the braces is a slow process. I'm not very good at carving, I hope I didn't get too aggressive with the top braces. later today, I'll flush trim the top and get ready for gluing the back.

You top braces look good. I like to close up the top of the x=brace where it was notched to give it back its structural strength. Some glue a patch of fabric but I like to glue a bit of a brace and shape it into the xbrace.

What type of glue do you recommend? I tried saturating some cheesecloth in weld-on, but it didn't seem to work, so I took it off? I'm open to ideas. Perhaps Epoxy?

Got some more work done this week glued on the back, but had an oops with the router.

The rubber bands needed a little more help.

Drat, that's deeper than the binding channel will be, gonna need to do some work.

Good news, scoured the floor, sifting through the sawdust and foundthe chip from the back, and even the splinter missing from the side. they're perfect fits, so I should be able to glue them in and go from there. Phew.
