I seek a really nice pick guard

One of the Luthiers in Ashland told me of a company that makes pick guards. You have to send in a tracing or pattern, and they make a rather thick guard with rounded polished edges. I think they cost about one arm and one leg, but I am interested in using one. Does anyone know of this company? I can't find such on the net.

You can buy nice looking pickguard material from StewMac and then cut our your own custom shape. They have some tha tis made by Mario Proulx and you can choose old shool looks from the 30s/40s.

I like making them out of wood. I want to start using burlwoods. I can get them as thin as I like with my drum sander, and you can get the transfer PSA paper from LMI or (Stewmac I think has it too)

The Greven clue lead me to www.tortispickguards.com, which looks to be the right place. To me, their products look good enough to go on a hand made guitar. The material was developed by J. Greven as an acceptable substitute for real tortoise shell used on vintage guitars, and it looks as if he was successful.
