clear coat run?

newbie here ... Solo Jazz Master guitar kit. Using acrylic lacquer primer, base coat and clear. All went well with the primer and base color coats (White). Second coat of Clear got a Run . Question - should I rub out the run now before more clear coat applications or continue with clear coats and then rub it out? I applied 3 coats of primer, lightly sanded with 0000 steel wool. Then 4 coats of base coat - no sanding between - about 10 to 15 minutes between coats. First coat of clear at about the same time period. Second coat of clear got the small run . Oh by the way, I am using spray/rattle cans. Looking for suggestions on the best way to deal with this. Thanks to anyone that wants to jump in.

I would use this technique. If you try sanding you can easily sand through. Get the majority of the run thickness and after you've sprayed additional layers you can level sand the area with the rest of the body with 800 grit fre-cut.

Thanks Ben-Han. You are correct. I did go through as you said. So now what? Can I lightly sand the clear coat and spray another coat of base color and then back to clear coat steps? Ahh the trials of taking on and learning something new ... fun just the same.

Yes. You'll probably want to feather it in. Mask off the rest of the guitar and spray that area.

My first thought upon seeing the run was to use a razor blade as a scraper
and scrape the run flat to the surrounding surface. Then simply continue with
successive spray coats. Would that work? If not, why??

If you have clear you can shoot a few more coats . You still need to level sand , often done with wet paper so you can get this out without too much of an issue.

My first thought upon seeing the run was to use a razor blade as a scraper
and scrape the run flat to the surrounding surface. Then simply continue with
successive spray coats. Would that work? If not, why??
