Epoxy from inlay pore filled my rosewood headstock

I epoxied an inlay into my rosewood headstock. I was generous with the glue to make sure I filled any voids. when I sanded it flush I found that the area directly around the inlay where the epoxy was had been pore filled and stands out from the un pore filled wood sorounding it. Is there any way to reverse this. Yes I'll probably pore fill that area anyway but what if I decided not to.

I know of no way other than sanding past most of the filled pore and opening new pore. I generally have been able to sand to the point where I can not see the difference between wood that had epoxy on it and wood that did not.

Is there a glue that will work for inlays that can be cleaned off with water? Nice and easy like.

you use any wood glue. At this point you may need to use Zpozy as your headstock filler and that may match what you have

Perhaps I should just use the same epoxy to pore fill the rest if the head stock, it's from LMI.

yep, that's what I'd do, then it will match. Then go ahead and do whatever you were planing on the rest of the guitar.

You may find you like the look of the epoxy. I use System 3 epoxy to pore fill and, although a little messy, works extremely well.

I would have thought that epoxy on the body would dampen sound quality somewhat.

One thought, if you really liek the look of pristine unfilled wood, is to mask the area your are doing the inlay, and don't remove the mask until you are sanding it flush. Any gloop or squeeze-out should easily be removed then.
