Looks nice Pete. Do you have a radius on those top braces?

Yes, I was concerned about clamping it to the flat bench, Stew Mac says to do this but I have seen others use a 28' radius dish instead. I dont have one yet. I imagine and hope when it is unclamped it will assume the 28' radius. What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks

Well, it may be okay, and it may not. I don't know if there is enough strength in the brace to actually pull the top into form.
You will find out. Normally you would use a dish, or, use stacked index cards under the top in the brace areas to achieve a radiused area to glue against. That is what I actually use. I don't own a radius dish.

If you do a search in the forum, there should be a thread or two showing pictures of these stacked cards, taped together.

Well I unclamped the top, it barely has a radius now, I have it propped up with some weights in the middle of the x brace. I think this should persuade it to "go back". I wanted the radius dishes but figured I would just follow Stew Macs instructions. I made radiused cauls for the back, it has a nice deep radius.

I don't think you are in to much trouble. RH is low at this time of the year. You also infused water with the glue into the top. You may see the bow come up a little later.

A full radius dish isn't absolutely necessary for this (although it's really nice to have). You can create the radius directly under the braces using a strip of wood cut to the appropriate radius, or use some facsimile (i.e. feathered index cards, etc...).

The top came out a bit straight. I am trying to persuade some radius into it.
Here are some vinyl caps I found online for the end of the threaded rod couplings, it adds a nice cushion finishing touch to my threaded "Gobars".

I made some spools for my Gobar deck. I pressed in the 1/4 20 couplings in some 2 1/2" wheels I found online. The wheels came with 3/8" holes that were perfect for the couplings to have a snug fit. I finished them off with some vinyl caps.

Using my "Gobar wheels" to glue a top.
