Advice on waterbased lacquers

So I am just about finished the home renos I've been doing since purchasing our home back in May. Since we moved my guitar I was building (Martin 000 cutaway kit) has been sitting on a blanket to keep it safe. I had finished it with spray can shellac from Home Depot. That was a bad idea because its not a very hard finish - most of it stuck to the blanket and so I'm planning to finish my guitar properly with sprayed lacquer. Due to safety considerations (I want to spray in my basement) and of course availability issues (nitro is hard to find in Canada) I want to use waterbased lacquers. I can order Target coatings from a Canadian supplier. I could get EM6000 or EM7000. I've never sprayed lacquer before. Any suggestions on which would be best to go with? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'd like to order some soon so I can finish this project and move on to some new ones! Thanks!

I have used EM6000 on three guitars and really like how it goes on, how it levels, and the results I get after I polish the guitar. From what I read in other forums it does seem that EM6000 is more appropriate than EM7000 for a guitar. But I have not use EM7000.

I've never sprayed either before, but from what I've read on various forums, you are most likely to have success if you follow the manufacturers finishing schedule.

You might check the Target Coatings forums and see if there are any posts over there. You can also contact their support and see what they can tell you.

I've tried browsing through the Target forums and a couple guitar building forums, and it seems like there is more info about the EM6000.... I also found Ken C posted a tutorial which I'm going to read through now.

the water borne finishes have become mush better than even a few years ago. Good burn in and buffs well. Don't over sand the body 220 grit is as fine as you need to go. Also use the manufacturers sealer for best adhesion.

You won't go wrong with EM6000.

KenC had some nice finishes with EM6000. Isn't 7000 a type of waterbased urethane? I may be confusing it with another product Target offers that is similar to KTM-SV.
