StewMac String Spacer Ruler
Re: StewMac String Spacer Ruler
Another thumbs up for the SM ruler. Accurate and couldn't be easier to use.

I agree with Woody and Darryl and think it is worth while doing it that way a few times to get the hang of it. Actually once you get it squared away in your head it works very easy. Bryan Kimsey's site has a lot of worthwhile data. Worth a look.

Re: StewMac String Spacer Ruler
I really like the Stewmac ruler. I make a lot of nuts and use it all the time...actually, I rely on it now that I've used it so much. I measure my two E strings and then use the ruler to mark the other four. My pencil is never sharp enough to mark through the little cutouts as they suggest, but I mark them with a small dot and use the edge of the ruler to draw a line.
It's a great tool. I have two of them...because I lost it, reordered, then found it.

Re: StewMac String Spacer Ruler
I have laid it out using a website from the UK that was mentioned earlier. And I have also done it with an excel spreadsheet I found on the net. They were pretty much the same as far as I could tell. I am sure each would have provided a different outcome playing wise.
I was just curious to see how close they were to the Stew Mac or visa versa.
I have had fun building my first. I have found that there are multiple ways to end up at the same place. Half of the fun to me is doing the research and learning all the different methods.
Thanks for your input on this.
