Neck Angle Refresh?

Post by Jim_H »

Someone please refresh my memory. I've searched the interwebs and couldn't find anything specifically referencing this.

I'm about to fine tune the neck angle on this dread I'm building and am trying to remember how high a straight edge should be above the bridge when placed on the fretboard (no frets yet).

Right now the straight edge just barely touches the top of the bridge. I still havn't leveled the fretboard or radiused teh bottom of the bridge, so there will be some minor changes. I just want to make sure I'm in the ballpark before I do my neck fitting and dress the heel cap.

The plane should be just off the top of the bridge .030 to .060 without the frets.

Thanks John,

I think I'm just about right then. The straight edge is just barely touching the top of the bridge at the saddle, but I haven't radiused the bottom of the bridge yet.

I think I'm close enough to finish out the heel and such. =)
