What is the procedure for this type of headstock treatment?

Post by deadedith »

Is that a single white purfling strip inside of a black purfling strip? Or what am I seeing there?
Any tips on the procedure?
Thanks

Not being able to see the side, or the joints up close, it's hard to say for sure, but my guess its its just an ebony binding with a maple purfling.

I did something similar on my Running Dog Concert Jumbo headstock, although I used curly koa for the binding and maple, and zipflex for the purfling.

It's also possible that it was inlaid, possibly using CNC...

Agree with Jim, need a better pic. with those curves it could also be black abs or fiber with a bwb purf. you'd only see the white of the bwb.

Ok, I'm starting to get the idea. Thanks.

Some nice work you did there, Jim!
