Don't need it. I like to have coffee and beer with my friends while getting the updates.
And a Marshall always sounds sooo much better in the real.
But hey, ignore the cynical humor, I was born before IBM and MS-DOS

I use it a bit to keep in touch with my 20 something boys especially when traveling. I sometimes post an odd picture of my current build.

Re: How Many People Use Facebook
I use FB and check my account every day at least once. It has been an amazing tool to get in contact with folks I grew up with and friends and family that have moved away (like me.....I moved away).
Before last football season me and other members of my family (brothers, sisters, mom & dad) had "friended" members of a family we grew up with but hadn't been in contact for years. We had a great time posting back and forth during games.....almost like sitting together watching the game. When my niece was killed and my daughter was injured a few weeks back.......everyone of these friends showed up at the funeral (some driving 5 or 6 hours one way) to be there with us. Now we've made plans to get together and watch a Razorback football game together (probably watch the Texas A&M game at my sisters home who lost her daughter). So it has been a neat tool for staying in contact with friends and family. Over 2,000 folks showed up for the visitation before my niece's funeral......and I think at least some of that was due to staying in touch through FB.

Re: How Many People Use Facebook
I have a facebook page that has nearly nothing on it. I have it so I can view other peoples pages from 'inside' the wall. There is nothing going on in my life that I care to tell the world in general about.
Similar with Twitter. There are a handful of twitter users that I follow (mostly news and information stuff) , so I made an account. I actually sent out a few guitar related tweets when I first made it, but realized quickly that it was a ginormous waste of time and energy. Like I said above, no one really cares what time I get up in the morning and what kind of coffee I drank to wake up...
I look at them as tools to use to acquire information, but I don't use them to talk about myself...
