Clip of my second - the "00-17"

Post by enalnitram »

So in my other thread for this guitar Chris asked about a sound clip. I meant to post one anyway, but couldn't get my mic working. So here's a video.

The song is by Chick Corea, "Crystal Silence."

The guitar, again, is a kit from John Hall. Mahogany back, sides, top, neck. Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. French polish. I'm still letting the finish cure some more before I do a final polish on it.

Very nice build. Sounds good too.
I have been wanting to buy a all Mahogany 000 from John but seems like every time I get ready to buy something comes up and I have to use my money else where. Soon, very soon.
Great job

Martin it sounds really good, and looks just as good as it sounds.

It was a big weekend. I presented #2 to the friend that I built it for. I was confident I would build something he would like, I just didn't have any idea how long it would take. And take long, it did.

Anyhow, it turned out really nice. I'm sad to see it go, but he's thrilled with it and already has plans to use it on gigs and recordings. This thing is addictive. Building them is fun, but it's also fun to hear them played by people that play better than I do.

On the way down to Kentucky I stopped by Elderly in Lansing and got a case for it. One of the managers played it and it got a favorable reception there. I didn't think to A/B it with the Santa Cruz 00 there. I would've liked to have compared them.

Cool, Martin. It sounds really good, and he does play well.
Couldn't get Dylan on the guitar? :)
Looks like a great keyboardist in the making.
Your guitar looks very nice. Excellent job.

"Yeh, what Martin said!!"

A friend of mine captured Don's reaction to first seeing the guitar on video and sent me the clip. I finally put it on youtube yesterday.

The saddle was buzzing on the 'g' string but I fixed that soon after this clip was shot.

It's funny, the crowd of people are friends of ours that had been hearing about this guitar for months, so the anticipation was pretty thick.

This clip was shot the next day, and Don had already been playing the guitar for about 6 hours...

Martin,
That Git is a winner for sure.
Thanks for sharing the clips.
What does the 17" stand for?

Thanks! it's Martin's style 17. it's a 00-17, and I put it in quotes, like, "00-17"
