Re: Project - ideas needed
I would like to make an update on this KGF project. An observation that I made was that there were several poeple who wanted to get involved and pledge certain items that were on the "NEEDED" list but items were donated so quickly that some people got left out in the cold (this almost happened to me). Everyone knows that there is a lot more ro building guitars than just the usual individual componenants, i.e. necks, back & sides, fretboards, tuners, fretwire, bridges, braces, and on and on and on... There are many consummables such as sandpaper, solvents, rags, adhesives, finishing materials, and on and on and on that are required to build a guitar (espacially three guitars). Since Dave is donating his own personal time to acclomplish the construction phase of this project, I think that it is only fair that he shouldn't have to bear the burden of these extra expenses. I propose that anyone who wishes to get involved (or more involved) to make a monetary donation, via paypal, money order, check, cash, certified check, cashier's check, wooden nickels, marbles, seashells, etc... My pledge of headplates and end grafts came up to a grand total (including shipping) of about $22, now I am by no means a wealthy man but I feel kinda cheap by making this meager donation so I intend to throw a couple extra dollars his way. I know some people made some pretty substatial donations. I discussed this with Dave personally and he has assured me that any donated monies not used specifically on the building of the guitars will be donated directly to this charitible organization. Anyone wishing to get involved should contact Dave B via PM or open forum. You may even choose to make your donation anonymously and Dave will respect that. Thank you for your consideration in this matter!!!

Good suggestion David.
If all of us spend just a few dollars for sandpaper and finish, Dave does not have to inject anything but his time and skill.
The tops I sent represent some value, but you know, I got them for free too. So the only thing I payed for was the shipping. A minor burdon and worth the goal.
Yo you all, go for it.

A shout out to John Parchem, who flicked a swell $50 into the pot for sundries, and that will come in real handy. I use a lot of sundries. :-) And I'm starting to think about cases too.
But mainly: many thanks John!!

That sure was a pretty sweet ante, John! It's actions like that from others that's going to make me get my glutius minimus (I'm 6' tall and only weigh a buck fifty) off my wallet and make good on my word!

By the way - donations are not disclosed on the Forum unless the donor gives me the okay. I can simply report that a donation was given by, for instance, DavidL, without mentioning the amount.
Any amount is welcomed.

All of you should be proud of what we are able to do.
Gads - I am actually going to have to build these things!

Goodness. I try to read most posts and topics on the forum, but I have passed over this topic time and time again because I just thought it was asking advice for a new guitar project.
I think this is an excellent project and would like to be involved in some way. I will have to read through all the posts to get a better feel for the project and what is needed.

I would like to design labels for the inside of the guitars as I read in an earlier post. Is this something that is still needed?
