To really kick things off, John Hall has volunteered 3 mortise and tenon bolt on necks and other stuff. Thanks John!
I've settled on 00 size guitars, but in a teardrop shape, and also 6 strings. Very simple appointments - plastic bindings and like that, but set up well - nothing worse than trying to learn, like some of us did, on a $4 guitar bought when we were in the Air Force and stationed in Amarillo Texas and we snuck over the border to ....."meet' girls.... and ended up bleary eyed hung over with the clap and some old guitar and.......well, I just made that up. Really.

And I'm still opened to suggestions about the little project. I'll start building after I start and finish the Ditson kit from KMG.

Anyway, it is for a good cause and you have all amazed me with your response.

From Ken Cierp:

"I should be able to supply the tops, back and sides, bridges, rosettes and brace materials"

Thanks Ken.

If anyone is good at making labels - I am not - come up with something that says along the lines of:

From your friends at the kitguitarforum
or

With all of our blessings, your friends at the ...etc

or

Whatever you think is appropriate, it would be nice to include the Forum name though..I have no creativity in labels.

I also suck at inlay - if anyone is moved to make a 1" round something to put on the headstock, something I could just forstner a space for - maybe a KGF? - I could glue 'er in.

Thought I'd give a brief status report. These are the current 'pledges' (now I sound like an NPR fund-raiser :-))

John Hall - 3 mortise and tenon necks, fretboards, fret wire, tuners

Ken Cierp - tops, backs and sides, bridges, rosettes, brace material

Herman - is sending two european spruce tops

Bob Cef (RC Tonewoods) - a set of back and sides

Still needed:

Kerfing
Binding material - black fiber would work best I think

I will coordinate the 'theme' to make the instruments look planned out, not thrown together.

Also - I do NOT want to put a "KGF" logo on as if I represent the Forum UNLESS it is ok with the Forum. Let me know what you think.

More to follow
Dave
