Good point tommy. I'll go with 3/4" baltic birch. This forum is great!tommyboy wrote:
Ed, you may be falling prey to Paralysis by Analysis. Too many opinions/suggestions. Go with what makes you comfortable.
However, I think if you use a GoBar to do a glue-up that will distort a 3/4", 2'x2' piece of ply you're doing something way wrong.

I was just about to reply to this thread and advise to put carpeting on the top. Yes, it will keep the bars from sliding; when they let go, they let go with a vengeance! I had some extra stair tread carpets laying around and I stapled a couple to my deck a couple of days ago after falling prey to the bars slipping.Phil wrote:tommyboy wrote:And, if you want to go over the top, have a look at the GoBar built by one of our Forum members.

I noticed in that thread that he put carpet on the top of the deck. Am I correct to assume its to help the gobars from slipping? Is that necessary or? Do other people do that with their decks?
If you look at my OM blog, you'll see my super fancy gobar deck...which was built using 4 pieces of $1.48 pine from home depot! LOLmnmusic wrote:LOL! I can think of better uses for bloodwood.
