That setup should work well for you. I have yet to do anything beyond a simple binding channel so looking forward to your progress.

Is that $50 worth of hooks? Looks like it will work, but love to see it in action

Forgot how much they cost, did take them off the old set up though. Will get some pics of the binding process as it proceeds.

Some more progress, these 2 with bindings installed, binding must be the thing I hate the most building these things. Both have a 1st coat of Z poxie for some protection, seems like I have banged up past builds with little nicks and scratches.

Re: 1st build; time to stop dillydallying!
Got some more work done on the bindings. Seems like no matter what I try I get small gaps at various points. Thought I would try this to clean these gaps and make room for some accents.
I used a 1/8" Dremel st bit to cut a channel that would take 7 veneer strips. I found some birch and walnut veneer packs at Woodcraft and cut a bunch of them for this and rosettes. I cut have cut a smaller inner rabbitt when I did the binding channel but still would have had gaps.
Cutting a channel this way you have to keep the guide rod always tight against the guitar body and any outward movement will muck it up. Had to sand the channel a little in a few places but overall it went well. Centering the bit on the gap seemed to leave a clean channel. Maybe a little too wide but this is a practice guitar for now, trying out new things. A few pics....

Been awhile since I've posted on this thread. Still at it, have finished the above 3 and will post some pics.
Went by Crosscut Hardwoods/Seattle a few weeks ago they had some nice new additions, one being some real nice Cypress not full q sawn but close enough. Started on 3 new builds with this wood, maybe "The 3 Blondes" should be a different look. A few pics...

Got some more done today, almost have the 3 boxes ready for binding, not sure if binding or fretting is the job I hate the most, a toss up at best. A few pics...

You're making lots of instruments! I'm interested to hear how your most recent guitars, with the symmetrical X-bracing, sound compared to your earlier ones. I too have made several now following Kinkead for the most part, and a Kinkead-body 12-string but with symmetrical X-bracing, which sounds great. I'm just starting a couple more six-string OMs (probably) and may try some things your way. Bruce W.
