Good idea, John. I used to do all my heating that way, but the blankets have spoiled me.
Thanks!

Could you post a picture? Would like to see what you have going. Do you have access to the interior of the tube?

Re: Martin square tube truss rod removal
Thinking out loud- a 12v car battery connected across the length would turn a metal rod RED hot, so I’ve been told. It will turn a ratchet Handle into a 1000 watt heater. AC house current, in series with a incandescent light bulb would also turn it red hot and not blow the breaker. A variac could be used to control the heat dissipated by the rod. An AC Heater element ( just for the load, not the heat) could be used in series with the rod. Just thinking, use the truss rod itself as the heat source. This would also be dangerous and unsafe in an uncontrolled environment. Don’t try it at home.

Re: Martin square tube truss rod removal
too much heat
glue will fail about 145F
charring the wood is the last thing you want to do.
Yes a car battery will make it hot but you cannot control it
