Ryobi WDS 1600 Drum Sander.....Any Good?

Post by Legolas »

Has anyone used or owned this drum sander? I've heard
that the paper is hard to change on them but that's it.

I have one, got it used in great shape for $150 locally of Craigs list about 2 years ago.
I have no problems changing the paper. I found a user manual online and it shows how to do it.
This is the only drum sander I've owned so I can't compare it to any others, however it works fine for my purposes. The outboard side does not have a support and there can be a little bit of give (pushes up) as the wood passes under. I've measured this to be about .005" difference, so I try and stay in the middle area as much as possible, but for most of what I'm doing I can live with the .005".

Do you have a line on one? What is it going for?
