I have been working on the conversion commission and thought you guys and gals may like to see what I am up to. The new top is ready but the body needed some work. In this photo series you can see there were loose braces that needed repair and some kerfing that needed replacement.
As of today the body is stabilized and the final repairs are getting done for preping to get the new top on. Before the top goes on I do have to address that tail block hole from a bad install of a pick up.

Curious to know if you try to match the wood type or not.tippie53 wrote:The tail block was epoxied so that is stable . I will be pluging the hole and redoing that

Re: Conversion to 1937 specs
I don't have to do much to replace wood on the back and side. I do have a hole to repair from a misplaced strap button. The rest of the guitar will be speced to 1937 . This will be red spruce top and a new neck to match the tee bar and the 1 3/4 nut. I also have the rosette and herringbone and back zipper made to 1937 spec. I got that information from CF Martin. I was allowed to document the 37 bones in the museum and David Musselwhite and my friend Wayne Henderson also have them so I have documented 3 individual guitars.
