Drilling holes for tuners

Post by Haggis »

Hi.
Is it important to drill the holes for the tuners accurate? On my drawing, the total lenght of the head is supposed to be 165.1mm, but it´s acctually 168mm. The drilling pattern shows the measurments from the top end of the head. So I don´t know if I can go ahead and drill using this.

I would layout the holes on the headstock based off the dimensions shown on the drawing. It's possible that the printout is not to scale.....even likely.....so you might be a little off if you use it as a template. You don't want the strings rubbing against another string's tuner shaft so the layout is important.......but I don't know how much you can be off and have no issues.
