Hot hide glue's adherence to stained wood?

Post by Airplanenuts »

I'm using HHG for the first time in a build. So far, I like it very much.

I hope the honeymoon doesn't come to an abrupt halt.

I'm planning on using John Arnold's idea, water-soluble aniline dye, on black locust back and sides, outside and inside surfaces.

Does anyone have experience with using HHG on stained wood, and it's long-term effects regarding adherence under correctly humidified conditions?

Thank you.

Best wishes!

On John Arnold's advice on UMGF, I did not stain the back or sides before bracing.

I did, however, fume them with ~5% ammonia for 48 hours beforehand. The HHG sticks like stink to fumed black locust, and the bracing is gluing down very well.
