question 101 day 1

Post by jartzh »

I have the d41 kit from Martin. My first kit so I thought I would go for the gusto.

I bought the form for them also.

My first question:
how do I tell the top from the bottom?
the instructions say the bottom will rock and the top is flat. but I swear mine does not rock. there is a space in the middle(waist) that doesnt touch the board. one side is flat.

this is embarrassing! I am confused on step 1.

the first thing I do is to tape the side together at the joint. Then look very close , the top will be flat and the back will be rounded. You may have to set the sides in the mold to be sure. Check this video . If you set the sides and set the mold on the side so it is vertical you may be able to see the back curve better.

Great video.

I found my problem! my "flat" table was not flat.
And I did have it marked wrong.

Next issue to come.

Thanks
