John Reid of Lockhaven took a class in July and this is the guitar that we made .A D18 style Mahogany with sitka top.. Not a bad piece. The wood was really spectacular .

What a great time I had working with John Hall. A wonderful and fun teacher. I'm in love with a guitar and not just for its great looks. Sounds really fantastic! Low end is so rich and deep.

Really good looking.
I see you don't make a "Martin diamond" or another reïnforcement in the head/neck area. Just a choice or do you think these are not needed?

BTW Congrats on your commercial progress.

Martin doesn't use a Valoute on the 18 series and it isn't a reinforcement ,it is a design feature left over from the days when the neck used a bridal joint. I assume it will add some strength but I have fixed many a neck crack and the valoute didn't help much.
That guitar is a great instrument and John and I had a great week. John is a Physics professor and we had some great discussions . I do welcome John to the Forum and again , visit anytime .

Thanks for the welcome. I just spent all day catching up in my journal. 11 pages, most about just the last two days at Blues Cr. with John finishing up the guitar. My next project is revamping my basement work area to build guitars. It will take me months to get it in any shape to work, but I have a feeling that Santa will be nice to me with tools this year.
