Here's a couple pics of the one I made and was using - the flat edge is 1/4" and the ramp length is 3/8" the UHMW id 3/16" thick. So I think I am in the parameters you guys said. Maybe I'm doing something else wrong.

My donut is a little different from Sylvan's but it designed with the same principal. That flatted area is what is playing with the location. Also on hand held they are tricky so you really have to pay attention to body and geometry. You got my number Tim feel free to call.
