Show us how you glue/clamp your backs and tops to the rims
Re: Show us how you glue/clamp your backs and tops to the ri
I've used bands on all my guitars but one, where I used the spool clamps. Both methods work very well. With the spool clamps I used a glue with extended open time so I didn't have to rush getting the clamps on.

I have used my Go-bar deck on my first two, with small cauls under each rod. With the addition of KMG's Mega-mold I used the rubber band method and I like it alot. Like John & Ken say with a good dry fit, you don't need a lot of pressure.

Re: Show us how you glue/clamp your backs and tops to the ri
I'm just wondering if it makes a difference what method you use if you don't use binding. My first 3 had no binding and I wanted the joint to be perfect all the way around because (in my mind) I had no room for gap errors. If your going to rout an edge for binding the joint may not need as close a tolerance as I wanted. I'm working on 5 new ones now (contemplating a 6th, 12 string) and plan too bind all of these. Any thoughts?
EDIT: I clamp almost every inch all the way around with cam and Irwin clamps.

I've been using the KMG Multimold and rubber bands. Or you could use inner tube strips or rope.

Remembered to snap picture while gluing the top on one of my dreads.
Could have used two more clamps, but it came out fine. :p
