Easing back into building again

Post by ckuo »

Hi all,
It's been way too long, but I'm back to building again after a long hiatus (mostly chasing after my 1.5 year old daughter).
I'm building a parlor guitar - sitka bearclaw top and lightly flamed Koa back and sides. It's gonna be a no frills
house guitar as my other half dozen guitars stay in their cases while the kids run around during the day.

I made the mold over a year ago and didn't get around to bending the sides until last saturday morning.
Since then, I've attached the sides to neck/tail blocks, glued on kerfing, joined the back, and cut some
back braces.

Anyways, it's great to be building again.

Hey Jim,
Good to see you on the forum. Work, kids, and life all conspire against building. Hope all is well.

Hey there Charles, great to see you posting again. I figured the way you started building after that first one, you had turned pro and left us all in the dust!!!!
Yes we would all like to see some pics.........

Hi Kevin,
Glad to see you're still hanging out on the forums. I built my fourth guitar over the past few years after my year or so of crash courses in lutherie. The only thing I've gone pro with lately is parenting. It nice to be back in the saddle.

Thanks, Daryl. It's great to be back. I scraped the insides last night and glued on some side strips. It took longer than I remember.

Pictures to come, I am just in the middle of a site redesign.

For those who are interested, I updated my blog with the past week or so of building (yes, there are some pictures). My site redesign is gonna take a while, so I figured this was the quickest way to show off my progress.
