Re: One month Ditson
Firstly, I can't even gather all the pieces parts I need to build one guitar in a month or less. When I finally make the decisions on all of the particulars and set out to gather the materials (through the different sources) I find that plans start changing due to various reasons that I will cover in the thread about my build #2. As a result this adds extra time to when I actually officially "start" building, and this is not only OK with me but I have learned (in a short period of time) that this is a bonus because the changes are usully required due to the fact that I am inexperienced and that people who are experienced are so gracious with thier time that they don't mind sharing with me thier expreience on the hows and whys that my ideas may come out less than acceptable, and check this out, they don't ask for anything in return. How cool is that? perhaps with some more experience I may be able to return the favor (if only on a limited basis). As far as a well equipped shop, I subscribe to Ken's philosophy about set-up (or lack of) and although I will never attain a full production operation such as Ken's, some of the things such as duplicate tools for different set-ups can be cost effective even in a less than full production shop such as Ken's. My best example of this is that I have married the bosch colt laminate trimmer to the KMG IA binding cutting jig, they shall never be divorced, If I find that I will need a laminate trimmer for some other operations/procedures I will purchase another laminate trimmer! Oh yeah, another important piece of equipment for my shop in an ash tray!

I had to look up "Ditson," which I did, and now I'm all ready to see pics... Oh, it prolly takes time to get to the photograph-ready stage, huh?
David L and I are in a similar situation, I think. I'm preparing for build #1 and some of the decisions and planning take forever! This is due to my complete lack of experience. I will be starting a post here to help me order the right purfling. Meanwile, my shop, though not yet "well equipped," has many of the items on John's list.

Slowest builder on the forum. These things take time. Apparently.
Re: One month Ditson
First day - set up the MM, cut the sides to length, built a little jig (pix attached) for side-block gluing and end wedge cutting, glued the blocks in.
BTW the spanish cedar kerfing smells wonderful.

Re: One month Ditson
Today I got the headblock on, got the rosette glued in, trimmed the fretboard so's I can glue the binding on it tomorrow, worked on the end wedge, which will look good when cleaned up. Not real productive but a nice day.
