It sounds really alive. I'm pretty excited about it.

Looking great Martin! Beautiful work.
FYI, not saying you should do this but throwing it out for you to ponder, Mario Proulx recommended I taper my finger braces down to nothing where they meet the X brace and back down to nothing just before the lining. And don't leave the finger braces too heavy. He says it adds sparkle and complexity to the tone (not his exact words so as I'm going by memory).
Also, he recommended I taper the lower tone bar down to near nothing where it meets the X-brace.

That's very cool to know. The box is already closed on this one. I made it as close as I could to the '32 Martin drawing I got from Arnold. I have a couple of orphan OMs in the works, I'm building from spare wood I have. I could do that to those. Maybe put the PMTE in there, also...

The "Proulx Magic Tone Enhancer." It was named by Bryan Kimsey. Mario was likely not the first to do it, but the name has stuck. It's a brace at the base of the bridge plate. It reportedly makes the tone snappier.

I'm going to stare at those pics of bracing before I start my own, since that's how I want mine to look. Nice work.

Hi guys,
I just a had a good time re-reading thru this thread about the early progress on this guitar. Since then, the guitar has sat without progress, while I began a new job with an hour-long commute each way. The guitar actually changed ownership during that time, as well (long story).
Anyway, I'm back on task. And I see now that there is a "blog your project" section on this forum now. Hmmm, if this thread could be moved there, it might make sense.
I got binding channels cut, and binding and purfling installed, recently. I finally broke down and bought the stewmac bit and a few of their bearings. It's well worth the expense.
The result of putting the binding on this box was quite a surprise. It livened up like a snappy drum. It rings like nobody's bizness. After I give it up, I might not be able to go back to my own.

Nice Martin, good clean channels too, and I've been wondering where you had gone!
Welcome back.
