Hello folks,

I used to read a lot on the 'old' forum and posted every now and again, but hadn't visited in some time. And here's an all new and improved forum . Great!

My first build was done by ther end of summer last year. It took me a year and a half to complete in bi-weekly nightly sessions in the capable hands of a pro here in The Netherlands. I'm very pleased with the result. I didn't do the nitro finish myself because of limited space and two small children. I'm well into #2 but here's a few pics of the deep-body OM.

Specs:
Indian rosewood b/s
Spanish cedar neck
zig/zag back end end strips
ebony fingerboard
Ivoroid binding
rosewood bridge

Thanks! As I said, I as under supervision of a pro, with access to everything in his workshop, but without any prior experience. It sounds OK. I have a Martin D-18V and and HD-28 to compare. It sounds a lot tighter. I might do some aftermarket brace removal on the next string change....

I have a blog at http://www.northernlake.com/ with this first and second build well documented.

#2 is a Madagascar AJ with maple neck and bindings. I'm about to glue the rims and insert the kerfings. Rough neck is done and head plate glued on. Fretboard slotted and inlaid. So we're getting places!

Keep in mind, the guitar will play in a bit as well. I would also experiment with different strings. There is an amazing difference in sound on one guitar between D'addario phosphor bronzes and John Pearce strings, and what is best on one is not always as good on another. Its all part of the fun!
