I'll be starting guitar #4 in the next couple of weeks, after I finish the fretboard and setup of the classical. This classical needs a little TLC, but it's my inspiration for #4. I picked up this little project guitar from Ebay.

BTW, if the guitar looks a little different, it's because it's quite different. It's 10 inches long. It's a model. It's a pretty cool model too; it actually plays, albeit out of tune! LOL The strings cannot be tuned.
So, I've decided that guitar #4 will be a 1/4 scale model of either an OM or 00. I'm going to build it from scratch, exactly like I would build a full sized guitar. I'm using left overs and cut offs from my builds. The guitar will be made of WV black walnut sides and back (bookmatched), with a white spruce top. I'm binding it in curly maple. It will have the full, forward shifted x-bracing pattern, a mahogany neck, and ebony fretboard and bridge, with bone nut and saddle. The scale length will be 6.223". I will inlay the fretboard and headstock.
Stay tuned for a very different build, which I'll Blog.

Are you going with pegs for tuning? Ukulele tuners might be the right size.

John, I have to do some calculations. I'll check out your suggestion, but they may be too big. At 1/4 scale, a 12 fret, 00 guitar, will have a total length of ~9.769" (just a quick calc.). I've never even held a uke, but aren't they larger than that?

A soprano uke ( the smallest and the original size) has a body about 9-1/4" long, a lower bout about 6-1/2", a depth at the heel of about 2-1/4", with a scale length of 13-5/8", making it about 1/2 size compared to a parlor guitar.

I appreciate the information Ed. This model will have a scale length of 6.225", an upper bout of 2 7/16", lower bout 3 17/32", depth of lower bout 1 1/64", depth upper bout 13/16". The total length of the box is 4 29/32".
I'm starting the blog. A photo of the plan will be in the blog.
