Well,
I am calling this one done. I am happy with the results. Special thanks to everyone especially Mr. John Hall who answered my questions.
I got my new pick guard in from Torto Guard and shined her up. Enjoy. I am now ready to do it again. This one will always be special.
She is a Braz/Adi with Madi bridge and fingerboard prewar forward shifted design x bracing with no popsicle brace. 1.75 nut, 2 3/16 string spacing, 25.4 scale with a 12 inch radius. She was finished with Cardinal Lacquer products. Very easy to play.
Thanks everyone for your support!
Mike

And the neck is what species? Was the neck stained? If so, with what?
Pesky questions over.
Mercy, is that a lovely-looking work of art. Thanks for sharing it with us.

It is a Mahogany neck. I measured a TayIor 814 at GC and copied the profile. The salesman looked at me funny when i had thickness calipers but I told him I was thinking of buying it and wanted to compare to my Martin.
But, I used a extra dark walnut lacquer toner from Behlens Jet Spray to spray the neck with a toner coat. Then 3 coats of clear nitro.
I didn't plan for it to come out so dark but my limited staining experience I couldn't get a color I liked that meshed with the light colored Madagascar fingerboard so I chose dark walnut for some contrast. Luckily with tinted lacquer I could always go back and refinish it.
Anyway thanks for the compliments. It took me 4.5 months I think. I had some hiccups too but I learned. I am happy with the way it turned out. Now on to number two...

It is absolutely beautiful! I had similar problems trying to get the mahogany neck to match the Peruvian walnut that I used in my OM. I never matched it properly. After seeing your results, I wish I'd gone darker, to match the darker wood tones. I think you did an outstanding job.

Thanks for all the compliments.
Mr. John to say I learned a thing or 200 would be more correct. Lol I can even do a neck reset. I didn't plan that but it turned out better than I ever thought I could do.
I will be building number two soon. Ziri / Carpathian 12 fretted. If it ever stops raining down here.
Thanks again all.
