Introductions and guitar #1...

I wanted to introduce myself, and show my first build. It's from a modified D28 kit that I bought from John Hall. We essentially changed it to a HD28V by changing the bracing pattern to pre-war specs, and adding herringbone and ivoroid bindings, etc. John was a big help, and always there by phone and email helping me through the whole process. Robbie Obrien's videos were also indispensable. I signed up for a one-on-one class with Robbie which will happen next month, and I thought it would be a good idea to get familiar with the process before diving in on that one, and I'm sure glad I did. I think I'm going to learn so much more with Robbie by already having familiarity with the process and the potential pitfalls. Stringing it up and playing it a couple of days ago was an amazing experience that I will never forget! I'm hooked!! Already got another one in progress....

It is great when you can have one under the belt before a class so you know where your weakness is . Robbie is a great teacher and a friend. He also posts here . A class act.

Working on a slope shoulder dread with rosewood and a gorgeous carpathian spruce top from John H. This going is going a lot smoother and not yet making the same mistakes as the first one, but I am making some new ones!! I'll post some pics when I get the binding on....

Great job JC!

Ha, your comment reminds me I'm doing the same thing. Avoiding the mistakes I've already made but making new ones by not paying attention to something I previously did well.

That's exactly how it's going for me; everything that went well before has presented new problems, partly because I'm not cautious enough or paying enough attention.....!
