This was a conversion I was working on. This was a 1960's D28 that needed a lot of work. I removed the top and rebuilt it to 1937 spec, All the back strip and herringbone is to 1937. Top is forward shifted Red Spruce. Tucked braces and Hot Hide Glue construction.
This is to be picked up Saturday. I am very happy with the end result.

Looks great John!

I'm curious how you treated the ADI top. Do you thickness it using a deflection test? If so, does it usually end up a bit thinner than other spruces? Finally, does it sound a little tighter anfter stinging up than say Sitka. Carpathian, or other spruces you have experience with?

When I do Martin A pre war is done to a .117 thickness , this is all high end red $400 for the raw top, they are the best I can get . Adi does have a tone that is all alone. They take a bit longer than Sitka to open up but have more power and can really make a guitar bark.
