Hi John:

I shipped an OM out to California that arrived quite nicely. I detuned it, put it in its case, went to the local guitar store (who knows me....buy a lot of stuff from them) and asked if they had any of the old shipping boxes left from their guitars. They gave me a gibson box that had a molded tray to hold the bottom of the case, and a molded tray to hold the top of the case. This trapped the case in the box to prevent any movement. I took it to the UPS store, and lightly filled the box with popcorn....shipped with insurance to for about $100-$150. Got there from Chicago in 4 days in perfect condition.

So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.

Ken,
What case did you get for your OM?

Kev: The first two OMs I built got gator cases, I think I paid $89 for them at a local guitar store. They were not dred cases, but shaped similar, maybe designed for classical? Not much room in them. The last one, however, was a smaller, less expensive case...about $60. A little more form-fitting, though some room at the tail.....nice fit though. I cant seem to find the receipts for them, so I will call the store tomorrow and see what they were, and edit this post. If you were shipping, I would go with the gator...a little more crush-resistant. The other was a local delivery (my sister....Black Beauty).
