I make my own necks. It's not actually as difficult as I originally thought. I also like making my necks from Maple. Strong and stable - especially as a five piece lamination. Most of the Gibson heels are of this design. It's a fairly simple two-way taper and a radiused heel. Actually much less time consuming to shape this design in contrast to a Martin Style.
