"Solarez" filler coat

Post by phavriluk »

A sculptor friend advocated this uv-set-in-daylight filler as a grain filler under lacquer. Has anyone had any experience with it?

Thanks!

Peter - I have no experience with that product. But a friend who is setting up to use UV-cured finishes says that the UV wand costs several thousand dollars. It may be possible with some to do it just with daylight, but I would look into it to make sure it can be done in a reasonable time frame, and in all seasons. Bruce W.

I have used it on cars. Works pretty good for that. The brand I used was a translucent white, so unknown how it stains or looks under clear. It cured in daylight “A-OK”. I didn’t use it again. When fully cured, it was a bit softer that traditional body filler. I didn’t really like how it sanded.
