Do I Need Pumice?

When french polishing, is pumice used only for pore filling? My guitar is cherry, so it doesn't require pore filling. Do I need to use pumice?

No, there is no need for pumice beyond pore filling. And there are many ways to pore fill under FP that don't involve pumice.
