Old Lacquer

I have a half can of brush on Deft nitro that I have had for 3-4 years. Is it ok to use it for drop filling the abalone around the top of my guitar? I hate to buy a whole new can for such a small job.

It should be fine but I would still run a small test first. Put a thin smear on a note card or other similar cardboard and if it has not dried to the touch in an hour or so it would be suspect.

I have used (and use) nitrocellulose lacquer which has been stored in a dry place for over ten years and it is just fine. As Brian says, do a test and make sure it drys in an hour or so. I do not think you will have a problem.

Frank Ford of FRET.com stores some in glass jars so they lacquer darkens. I have used old lacquer with success but like the advice above test first.
